Guild Wars Event

Guild Wars is a special time limited event in AFK Arena.

The minimum requirements for a guild to participate is level 2 or higher and at least 10 members.

1.16 Changes

In patch 1.16, the guild wars event had some changes made to it. Now it basically has the same rules and mechanics as the Legends’ Championship, except heroes scale to 160 and it requires Elite ascension heroes instead of Ascended.

  • Common heroes cannot be used.
  • All heroes will scale to level 160 and will start with mythic tier gear.
  • All union buffs will be active.
  • Faction advantages are disabled.
  • No artifacts or gear enhancements.

Everything is set automatically, you just have to choose which formation of heroes to choose. Gear does not have to be equipped.

Stage 1: Enrollment

If your guild is eligible, a guild master or deputy can start the event by pressing the “Enroll” button.

Any guild member can enroll via the “Join” button. Enrollment will take 48 hours to complete.

Stage 2: Matchmaking

Once enrollment is completed, the guild will be placed into a matchmaking queue until an evenly matched guild is found for the war. This will take 1 hour to complete.

Stage 3: Battle

After the matchmaking has finalized, the battle stage will begin. This is a best-of-five competition with the first round lasting 23 hours, and the following 4 rounds last 24 hours each.

Each player can have 3 different team formations per battle. They can only challenge players that are currently ranked higher than themselves.

Everyone begins with 3 battle tickets, and it requires one ticket to start a battle with an enemy player.

Battle Round Scoring

The scores are based on the highest position every member of each guild was able to reach during a round.

Strategy

Due to the way the scoring works, the guild with the most active members will generally always win. It doesn’t really matter if they aren’t the most powerful, because it’s the lowest ranked players that have the highest scoring potential for their team.

It’s a little bit backwards, but essentially the lowest powered members of both guilds are the ones that will be earning most of the points for their guild.

Activity is key

The key to winning is having a very active roster, as every single member can add a decent amount of points to the round score.

Hold the door.. I mean positions

Having high powered players in the top spots will still help though, as it will block the other guild members from earning the maximum points per round.

In general, holding the positions at the end of each round (except the last) is also very important as the rankings will carry over to the next round. The guild will instantly earn points based on the final positions of the previous round.

Save your attacks

A good strategy is to have guild members wait until the round is nearly over to use their attacks. Then if they win their battles they’ll automatically start in a higher position in the next round and instantly earn more points for the guild.

(Alt)ternative solution

If you’re struggling to get enough active members for the guild wars, consider making an alt account and join the guild with it. You can then use it for the guild wars.

Rewards

The current rewards from this event are: Gold for Round Rewards, and Common Hero Scrolls for Victory Rewards.

Yeah… that’s it. They’re not great rewards, so you’re not missing out on much if your guild loses or you’re not even in one.

Lore

Many millennia ago the God of Life, Dura and the God of Death, Annih once came to blows on this very land, both vying for dominance, however there could only be one victor. Now many years later the horns of war can be heard once again, but this time the champions of Esperia are fighting for honor and prestige!

I got really hooked in this game when I started a few months ago because of the guild wars. I have t seen one since and this game is getting boring AF just betting on players. Why isn’t PvP a standard on the guild level, yet?

We haven’t had a guild war in over 2 months! I’m a deputy so I know we didn’t just miss the enrollment option…

I wish that each member of each team had like 3 attacks, and each member could only be attacked 3 times, making it a strategic dance for points. Or maybe each team you kill in the best of threes guild member attack gets you 1 star, and you want to collect as many as possible

It clearly says ingame the points are based on the highest rank each individual player has achieved each round. Essentially once you reach 1st place, there’s nothing else you can do during that round to increase your points.

Why am I not able to challenge anyone above me, while being at the 4th position?

The ones above you are your own guild mates

How long does someone need to be in a guild to participate?

They need to make guild events where each guild competes against all other guilds for a numbered ranking based on guild performance. This would then result in prizes based on highest placement for the guild. Prize value is based on guild placement. Higher placement has higher value prizes. (Heroes, resources, gear, etc) Use maps similar to peaks of time or the Labyrinth (new maps with a new one each month or in a reasonable time frame that rotates over time). Structure it in a way that each guild member receives points for completing maps. Members points tally to create a… Read more »

My entire guild is confused on how the point system works, and we find that the rules dont explain it very well.

So it is incredibly stupid, but it’s based on what highest position each member had. Also though larger guilds have an easier time winning points, especially if they are incredibly active. They can take a position, get knocked back then someone else from the same guild can take the position essentially doubling the points

Our guild started at 2400-ish war points while our enemy started at 2800-ish. Our guild seems to have stronger/higher tier heroes on average. So is the point difference there to account for the power difference or is there some other reason?

The biggest reason for the point difference entering a guild war battle is essentially the side with more points has more participants. If your guild has only 33 participating and the opposing guild has say 40 participating there going to start with more points. One of the biggest factors in winning these so try and hound your guild mates to get in there. The mechanics I will say are confusing. Say you achieved 3rd place but are knocked down to 12th the only way for you to get more points is to get either 2nd or 1st. If you’ve achieved… Read more »

It’s based on the position they started in the guild war. If they had higher positions overall to start with they start with higher points, larger guilds also start with higher points, because they have more members to assign points to

What do you mean by “Faction advantages”? The 50% dmg bonus from counter faction for excample graveborn->lightbearers, or 5 same heroes give 25% kind of? Or both?

The first lot of guild wars, were broken, but atleast the were fun, the “new” guild war is still broken but now it’s not fun either =/ Your characters gear and level are irrelevant, only how many you have. All you do is make a counter team, automatic first place, every fight in it so far has just been musical chairs with first place, winner is whoever takes it right before the round end =/ what’s the point?

Did I need to equip all my heroes with items for the Guild War?

I’ve started out placed in the number 1 spot in my guild so I can’t engage in any battles (since you can only engage higher ranked players). Is this as intended? sad

It was probably some sort of test to implement a similar feature down the line. Give them some time to maybe fledge out the matchmaking system or the rewards and ruleset and they’ll probably implement it

Does this only happen once? My guild had only been in 1 guild war before and that was 2 weeks ago.
